Ukrainian President Voludmir Zelinski on Tuesday called for a “fair” end of war with Russia without “rewards” of Vladimir Putin, which pushed back against Kiev’s demands to make regional concessions.
“We all want this war to end in a fair manner – without any rewards for Putin, especially any land,” Zelinski said at the video conference at a summit organized by Poland.
The comment comes amid reports that the United States suggested freezing the front lines and accepting Russian control over the Crimea that it seized in 2014, which Zelinski rejected.
But US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he believed that Zelinski might waive the Black Peninsula as part of a settlement.
Russia has also repeatedly demanded that the region be preserved in the southern and eastern Ukraine, which it occupies and to give Kiev more lands.
Moscow has about 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory after its grinding attack, which killed thousands of people.
