The ministry said that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Jaime Florecruz, Manila’s envoy to Beijing, on Tuesday to establish “official representations regarding a series of negative moves recently taken by the Philippines regarding Taiwan and security -related issues.”
The ministry did not clarify, but on the same day, the Chinese embassy in Manila warned of the statements of Admiral Roy Vinsint Trinidad, the Philippine naval background, that the Philippines and Taiwan were in talks on “international cooperation”.
In a report on the Taiwanbos News TV on Tuesday, Trinidad said that the navy was studying joint patrols in the Luzon Strait.
This was the first time that a senior military official in the Philippines recognized the potential military cooperation with Taiwan.
