Local media reports also indicate that the politician has also been prevented from using social media or contacting other individuals under investigation by the Supreme Federal Court.

According to what was reported, this includes his son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, a Brazilian legislator who is currently living in the United States and is famous for his close relationships with Donald Trump.

A police statement confirmed that the officers in Brasilia carried out “materials for research and confiscation, in addition to precautionary measures other than detention, according to a decision of the Supreme Court.” The statement was clearly called Polsonaro.

Polsonaro is currently trying to the Supreme Court accused of offering an alleged attempt to photograph a coup to cancel the 2022 elections in which the left -wing President Luiz Inosio Lula Da Silva was defeated.

Live air footage of local broadcasters showed federal police vehicles outside the Polsonaro residence in Brazilia.

Congress member Sustenis Cavalkanti, leader of the Polisonaro Party in the House of Representatives, told Associated Press that the officers had also searched the Bolsonaro office at the party headquarters. He described the operation as “another chapter in the persecution of conservatives and right -wing figures” in Brazil.

Polsonaro’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On Tuesday, the Brazilian Prosecutor Paulo Gunnett said in a report to the Supreme Court that “the evidence is clear: the defendant is systematically acted, throughout his mandate and after his defeat in the polls, to incite the rebellion and destabilize the democratic rule of the law.”

Bolsonaro described the trial on X as a “charming chase”, echoing a term that Trump used when he reached the defense of his ally in South America last week.

Last week, Trump imposed a 50 % import tax on Brazil, and directly linked the definitions to the trial of Bolsonaro. The former Brazilian President in his resort in Mar Lago hosted both of them in power in 2020. Trump compared the Brazilian situation alone. On Tuesday, in his conversation with the White House journalists, Trump reiterated the claim that the trial is “a charming chase.”
