On April 29, 2025, Phoenix Group He announced, in a press statement sent to Bitcoin magazine, that he added fifty -two megawatts of bitcoin mining capacity in Ethiopia, which increased its total in the country to one hundred and thirty megawatts. With this development, the Phoenix collection is now more than five hundred megawatts worldwide. This greatly enhances their reputation as one of the ten best bitcoin miners in the world, and gives them great opportunities to stay a great player in the Bitcoin mining industry. This expansion follows the previous Megawatts power purchase agreement that has already started to enter the Phoenix Group group to the Ethiopian market.
The new site in Ethiopia will be built in two phases. The first stage will activate twenty megawatts of capacity using five thousand three hundred high -efficiency mining units refrigerated in the air, with 1.2 Exhashes in the second (EH/S). Stage 2 is expected to be completed by the end of Q2 2025, and it will add thirty -two megawatts using water cooling technology, which doubles the site fragmentation rate to 2.4 EH/S.
“The Phoenix Group has become a leading force among the ten best mining companies in Bitcoin International, a testimony on the strategic insight in securing major sites with abundant low -cost energy and our operational excellence is driven by vertical integration and advanced edge technology,” said Monaf Ally, CEO and CEO of Venix Group. “The chances of future growth are huge, and we are committed to expanding the global footprint in the main energy markets strongly.”
More importantly, more than 90 % of Ethiopian energy operations in Phoenix come from the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, one of the largest renewable water energy sources in Africa. This puts the site as one of the most widely large Bitcoin mining projects in the world, according to the statement.
“With a hundred and thirty megawatts of clean hydroelectric energy now in Ethiopia, we are proud to set a new green mining standard in Africa,” added Reza Nedjatian, CEO of Phoenix Mining, AI & Data Centers.
