Federal public prosecutors accused a university professor of assaulting law enforcement by throwing tear gas box to officers during protests against immigration raids at California cannabis farm.
Jonathan Anthony Caravilo, a lecturer of mathematics and philosophy in the California State University, was arrested on July 10, when the federal agents fired tear gas in crowds appearing against raids.
Bill Essia, the American Central Region Lawyer in California, accused Caravilo of “throwing tear gas box in the application of the law” and said that his office is preparing to charge him with assault, resistance or obstructing officers. The first appearance of Cherfilo in court is Monday.
According to the witnessesThe tear gas box was rolled under the wheelchair of a legal observer who struggled to breathe or move. According to what Caravilo rushed to help when it is treated by agents.
After his arrest, more than 24 hours passed before Caravilo’s place was discovered. The California Faculty Association in the California Association has published a statement saying that it was “kidnapped” by four convincing agents who did not introduce themselves or mention as they were taking it while they put it in an unlimited car.
The university said in a statement that it believes that Caravilo “was participating in peace in a protest – a law protected under the first amendment and a guaranteed right for all Americans.”
The university said: “If it is confirmed, we stand with elected officials and community leaders who call for his immediate release.”
On Sunday, members of the California faculty association set up a detention center calling for his release.
The intense raids and confrontation between the demonstrators and federal agents have emerged as the latest flash point in Donald Trump’s aggressive agenda to combat immigration, which has published convincing federal law enforcement agents in societies to conduct mass detention and remove thousands of people quickly from the country.
Last week, the officers arrested more than 300 people during raids inside the cannabis farms in Camarilo, California, about 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles. It is claimed that the agents have discovered 10 uncomfortable immigrant children working there.

The United Farms Union said that many workers were seriously injured during the raids, while the other targeted workers, including an American citizen, were “completely not entirely.”
The agents are accused of chasing one worker who fell 30 feet from the top of the building. Jaimi Alainis Garcia was transferred to the hospital and placed on life support with a broken neck, broken skull and cut artery.
Garcia was later removed from life support and died of his wounds.
“His wife and parents decided today to allow him to rest. He passed away,” his family said in a statement.
The raids sparked an intense confrontation between the demonstrators and federal officials who arrived at the scene in the military -style cars.
“We are angry at these military tactics targeting immigrants and intimidating societies,” California faculty members Association said in a statement.
The group said that immigration agents, customs and internal security children “tear families and undermine constitutional rights for all – including American citizens – who stand with marginalized societies.”
