The former parachute regiment officer aims to become the fastest person to wander alone 2000 miles around Great Britain.
Mike Elkok, from Louis in East Sussex, was wounded at a hostage in Sierra Leone in 2000, when he was 25 years old.
Kamel recovered and then went to lead a team of paratroopers in operations in Iraq.
The 49 -year -old father is now trying to make history through single blasphemy across the United Kingdom in less than 80 days, making him the fastest person to complete the challenge.

Mr. Elkok, who started on Wednesday morning from Newhavin, said that he is facing the challenge of celebrating his fiftieth birthday in May and collecting money for the Parachute Regiment Association.
“I am 50 years old and I think” the celebration “believed that it would be good at trying to break the record of the blasphemy around Great Britain,” Mr. Elkok told the Palestinian Authority.
“Just before my life, a group of 25 -year -old, I was wounded while a hostage in Sierra Leone, but I was completely recovered.
After that, I had the honor to lead the parachutes on the operations again before conducting a successful and rewarding transition to civilian life.
“Not all of my ex -arms brothers were very lucky, and for this reason I look forward to using this challenge as a way to honor them while collecting funds for charities near my heart.”
Mr. Ellicock, who is now running a social project, will try to challenge a Canadian designer boat called Pegasus, a mixture of sea boats and a rowing boat in the ocean.
It will sail in the direction of the clock around the UK, and it often stops to renew the supplies.
He said: “I am not looking to hit Thoro, one of the most dangerous water bodies in the United Kingdom, and perhaps in the world, but I trained hard on this challenge and took advice from experts to make sure that I am equipped with dealing with wild water there.”
Mr. Ellicock is not strange to the intense challenges after breaking a record in Guinness in 2013 to operate the London Marathon with a package of 40 pounds (18 kg) in three hours 25 minutes and 21 seconds.
He has also moved to the Bob Graham tour, a 66 -mile hill in the lake area and the Westminster Canoe, which extends to the course of 125 miles from Welshire to London.

“This next challenge is from another league. It is like the next level,” he said.
“There are some parts of the coast where there are things called tidal gates, where you get this overcoming tidal, because the water flows very quickly.
“I am concerned about these people because there are certain places in which you should be in time.”
Mr. Elkok, who is also collecting donations to the Royal National Life Institute (RNLI), said he is planning to stop at a number of RNLI stations when he is internally, and he is “looking forward to him.”
