The ruler of the ruler of a delicate Tim Walz talked about the work and the legacy of MP Melissa Hortmann, who the authorities said was assassinated at her home on Saturday morning. The police said the suspect had targeted it, and another legislator for the democratic state and their husbands.
“Our state has lost a dear leader and lost my best friend,” Walz told reporters at a press conference.
Investigators said that Hortmann, a former spokesperson for Minnesota House, and her husband, Mark, were shot dead at their home in Park at about 3:35 am on a suspect who was impersonating a police officer.

Nearly 90 minutes of shooting were shot on the same suspect and Senator John Hoffman and his wife Evit were wounded at their home in Champlin, according to the police. The police said the unknown suspect, who had a list of other goals, fled on foot after engaging in a battle with officers outside the Hortman house.
Walz Hortman described as a person who served the state “with great sympathy, grace, humor and a sense of service.”
“She was an enormous public employee. An essential player and a giant in Minnesota. I woke up every day to make this country a better place,” he told reporters.
The ruler condemned the attack in a statement.
He wrote: “We are not a state to settle our differences under the threat of weapons.” We must stand united against all forms of violence – and I call on everyone to join me in this commitment. “

Other leaders of the state and beyond offered similar condolences throughout the morning.
President Donald Trump also issued a statement on Saturday morning condemning violence.
“It will not be tolerated with such horrific violence in the United States of America. God bless in Minnesota, a really great place,” he said.
The White House said in a statement that the FBI and the Prosecutor’s Office will investigate and “will be tried by anyone involved to the maximum law.”
Former President Joe Biden spoke against the attack in the X.
“This hideous attack by politics should not happen in America,” he said. “We must give hatred and extremism, there is no safe port, and we must all unite against political violence as a nation.”
“Like many Minnesotan, my heart is broken,” said the National Democratic Committee, Ken Martin, the former head of the Democratic Party in Minnesota and the friend of both victims.
Martin wrote: “Melissa, Mark, John, Wivit – this is not just names, and this is not just a policy. These are people. They have long been friends for me, Jin and many others in Minnesota. They have children, loved ones, neighbors and friends.”

Senator Amy Klopochar of Minnesota said she had “destroyed” the shooting and noticed her friendship with Hortman in a statement.

Senator Tina Smith also responded to Minnesota to shoot X, criticizing political violence and said that Hortman was “smart, funny and intended to make Minnesota work better for us all.”

Law enforcement sources said on Saturday that Walz, Samith and Omar were among the dozens of Democrats in Minnesota in a targeted list written by the suspect.
