Officers at Los Angeles International Airport have discovered more than 17 lines of liquid metamvitamine hidden in plastic bottles called dog shampoo this month.
The officials said that the value of the street estimated for the drugs, which was heading to Australia, was more than $ 1.8 million, according to a press statement on Wednesday.
On April 1, Customs and Border Protection Officers in LaX searched the issued shipping shipment that was announced as a “diverse dog shampoo”, which contains 12 colored bottles in bright colors.
When the officers of the external enforcement team at the airport opened the bottles, they saw a “crystallized white substance” that was tested positive for metamphine.
No additional details were launched about the intended destination or the party trying to send drugs.
From October 2023 to September 2024, customs and border protection officers seized more than 174,000 pounds of methyl to the country or being sent abroad, according to the statement. Since last October, 64,000 pounds have been intercepted.
Dog shampoo bottles are among many creative ways that smugglers have tried to infiltrate into the country and outside.
In March last year, a border crossing from Mexico tried with 3,000 metatholes hidden in a large shipment of islands. In August, another tried to hide 1,220 packs of methyl as a watermelon, with each round beard wrapped in paper and drawing shades of green to imitate the fruit.
Andrew H. Douglas, Director of LaX Port for Customs Protection and Border Protection, for officers to find medicines in shampoo bottles.
He said in a statement, “This important seizure clarifies the vigilance of our officers, the intense focus and commitment to disrupting drug trafficking across patriotism,” he said in a statement. “I am very proud of their actions.”
