Police said on Friday that a 61 -year -old man was seriously injured after he was pulled into an MRI while wearing a metal chain.
The accident took place on Wednesday afternoon in a medical building in Westpore, New York, according to the NASAO police department.
The officers responded to NASAO MRI after a 911 call and they were informed that the man “entered into an unauthorized magnetic resonance room (MRI) while the examination was under progress.” statement.

The police said: “The male victim was wearing a large metal chain around his neck, which caused him to be attracted to the device, which led to a medical ring.”
Police said that the man, who was not named, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The police said he had died since then for his injuries and announced his death on Thursday afternoon.
The police said the investigation was continuing.
MRI uses a strong magnetic field in the production of detailed images. Patients are advised to remove jewelry and other metal objects before obtaining the examination.
