Surrounded by a group of passengers on the MTR platform in Hong Kong on the day of the normal week, a couple temporarily stopped taking pictures next to a station mark to celebrate their journey.
“We took pictures in most of the metro stations that we visited, only to record the metro road,” said Arral, a 36 -year -old tourist who was visiting the city with his wife, 37, for the first time.
The registration of such visual diaries is part of the common trend on Chinese social media in which people travel around Hong Kong to take pictures on MTR platforms against the colored walls of the stations.
Tourists often collect nine or more pictures or videos of the names of the stations, whether from the same signs or with a person next to them, to participate with others in the moments of Rednote, Douyin and WeChat as photo procedures or single publications.
On Rednote alone, #HongkongMtr gained about 110 million views, with one post on May 31st attracting 25300 reactions and 291,100 views, according to the Newrank Data Analysis platform.
The post visited five MTR stations on one day of the week this month – Choi Hung, Mong Kok, Yau MA TEI, TSIM SHA TSUI and Central – and found visitors depicting themselves with the names of the stations in each site.
